Tokyo Museum Pass

by Shane on April 15th, 2008

image “Tokyo Museums - Grutt Pass 2008” is a multi-museum admission ticket that allows visitors free or discounted admissions to 61 facilities, including museums, zoos and aquariums, in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

It can be purchased for Y2,000 (US $20) at various locations and is valid for two months from the first day of use. If you plan on visiting a few museums in Tokyo during your stay this pass will definitely save you some Yen.

Here are just a few of the participating institutions:

    Hi Shane,

    I was wondering if you had more details on this museum pass? The website is mostly in Japanese. I would just like to know which museums are in the list of 61 and will the pass give free entry, or just discounted entry? Thanks!

    Fiona;

    This is a difficult question for me to answer as I cannot read Japanese either, I’m sorry to say, but here is a link to the 61 institutions and a calendar for Spring 2008:

    http://www.rekibun.or.jp/grutto/pdf/spring.pdf

    The names of the 61 institutions are in English and have a corresponding websites and contact numbers. Some of the websites may have English versions but I have not had time to check them all.

    I have not yet used my Grutt Pass for 2008 but understand that it can offer significant savings if you plan to go to a lot of these venues during a two month period.

    Good luck!
