High Dynamic Range Images of Tokyo

I recently came across some great images of Tokyo that intrigued me. I did some research and found out that the images were High Dynamic Range Images (HDR) that are created when multiple exposures of an image are combined. This images are fantastic and often resemble a modern painting or a scene from a futuristic movie or cartoon. Here are a few of my favorites:

Billed as the largest antique event in Japan, the Antique Jamboree welcomes almost 500 unique vendors from all over Japan. A vast variety of items catering to different tastes and styles are brought in and include Japanese, European and western antiques, collectible toys, antique fans, vintage kimonos, wood block prints and netsuke (intricately carved figurines pictured on the right) to name a few.

Trendy Toys are Poppin’ in Tokyo

Have you ever popped bubble wrap? I know I have, and sometimes it’s been a lot more entertaining that the gift that it came wrapped around!
Bandai, a Japanese toy company took that idea and turned it into a line of hot selling keychains named Mugen Putiputi (Japanese for “pop pop”) key chains, which allow people to pop or snap plastic air bubbles endlessly. The Mugen Putiputi received the Trendy Toy award for uniqueness and wide acceptance this week in Tokyo.

A Design Festa in Tokyo

A Design Festa in Tokyo

Design Festa is the biggest art event in Asia, with approximately 2,600 booths and 7,000 exhibitors working in a variety of mediums. This art event is held twice a year at Tokyo Big Sight, the biggest event hall in Japan.

In addition to the shopping at the various booths be sure to check out the schedule of live events which include live performances by 20 bands, fashion shows, contemporary dancing and a Japanese drumming. It should be a lot of fun so check it out!
