Summer in Tokyo - Festivals, Fireworks & So Much More was featured in the July Carnival of Travelers hosted by Mary Jo at Fly Away Cafe. A lot of great summer themed posts are featured and are worth a read.
Hokkaido, where the Group of Eight summit was held in Toyako, is known for its hot springs, ski resorts, seafood and magnificent scenery. The Japan Times has a great article on the history of this area, a one and a half hour flight or an overnight train ride from Tokyo, in its article titled “Japan’s last frontier took time to tame, cultivate image“
The Disney Traveler tells us about the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel Grand Opening Celebration on July 8th. It’s a beautiful hotel!
This photo special of Harley Davidson Motorcycles in Japan has some great vintage images including one with Mount Fuji in the background.
Lastly, Reuters reports that Japanese astronomers will be looking for life in outer space starting this September:
