Zed by Cirque Du Soleil in Tokyo

image October 1, 2008, marks the grand opening of “Cirque du Soleil Theatre Tokyo,” an establishment dedicated to the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil and to bringing Japanese audiences a whole new form of entertainment not seen elsewhere.

The first show in the new theater will be Zed.  Promoted as “A living poem at the heart of the human adventure” Zed is sure to be yet another must see show from Cirque Du Soliel.

The central larger-than-life character Zed represents all of humanity in all its guises, from wisdom to folly, from discovery to adventure. Zed grows as he discovers the world on his journey of initiation. Through this undertaking the people of the sky and the people of the earth are trying to connect with each other; through Zed, they come together.

Preview performances start on Friday August 15th, 2008 and run through September 30th with tickets ranging in price from Y6,240 for an overview seat to Y14,400 for premium seating. (details)

Regular performances start on October 1st, 2008 and ar scheduled to run through March 30, 2009.  Tickets prices range from Y7,800 for an overview seat to Y18,000 for premium seating. (details). 

Tickets can be purchased online for the regular performances Staring on June 7th by calling 0570-02-8666 (Japanese only).  Online reservations (Japanese only) can also be made for the Preview performances or the Regular performances (starting June 7th 10AM Tokyo Time).

The theater is located near the JR Maihama Station on the Keiyo line and is very close to Tokyo Disneyland. (access map)

    I have seen two of their shows was spellbound each time. Amazing!

    I haven’t yet seen a performance by Cirque so I am looking forward to this.

    Have only seen Cirque on DVD, but am looking forward to the chance to catch a show here in Tokyo after October.

    I saw the traveling show Corteo in Seattle (http://www.theseattletraveler.com/an-angel-whispered-to-me-see-corteo/), and just saw KA in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.

    Two very different performances, but both totally captivating and mesmerizing.
