Danica Patrick Makes History in Japan
Yesterday, 65 miles northeast of Tokyo, Danica Patrick made history when she became the first woman to win an IndyCar Race. Congratulations Danica!
She was racing in the Bridgestone Indy Japan 300 Mile at the Twin Ring Motegi in in the town of Motegi in eastern Tochigi prefecture. The track is is a 1½-mile oval and Danica raced against 17 other drivers.
The start of the race had been delayed by rain but when the checkered flag finally fell it was Danica standing on the top flight of the podium holding the trophy. The race was her 50th and Sports Illustrated quotes Danica as saying “It was a matter of everything coming together, I knew this is how it would feel.” & “Finally.”
